One text, a version where a network needs one
Pick the accounts the post goes to: your LinkedIn profile or a company page, and your X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube accounts. Write the text once. Any network can get its own version, such as a short one for X or a caption with hashtags for Instagram, and the rest keep the shared text.
Each network's counter follows its own rules: X counts a link as 23 characters and knows your account's limit (25,000 with X Premium), and a Threads text post shows how much goes in the post and how much in its attachment.
See it as each network will
The preview shows the post for each network before it goes out, with your account's name and picture. Text too long for one X post shows as the thread it becomes: numbered posts, each a reply to the one before, with the images on the first.
Tags that come out right on every network
Type @ and pick a tag from your list. It shows as a chip in the text, and each network gets its own form: the @handle on X, Instagram and Threads, the company tagged on LinkedIn, and the plain name on Facebook and YouTube. A name that isn't in your list shows in amber, and you can add it as a tag on the spot.
Media that fits each network
- Images, a video or a PDF. Images up to 5MB, one mp4 video, or one PDF that LinkedIn shows as a carousel.
- Alt text. Describe each image once and the description goes to every network that takes it.
- Instagram's JPEG rule. Add a PNG, WebP or GIF and the Composer makes a JPEG copy for Instagram. Every other network gets your original.
- Checked before you schedule. If a network can't take the post, the Composer says why under the post, and Post now and Schedule wait until it's fixed.
The rest of the post
- First comment. Add a link, hashtags or credits as a comment posted right after the post on LinkedIn and X.
- YouTube. Choose a normal video or a Short, and set the title, privacy, tags, category, made for kids and a custom thumbnail.
- Schedule or post now. Pick a day and time in your timezone, post right away, or save it as a draft.
After it's scheduled
The post sits on your calendar next to everything your agents scheduled. Each network shows its own status: scheduled, posting, published with a link, or failed with the reason. A failed network can be sent again with Retry, and a published post can be deleted from the networks that allow it. If someone deletes a post on X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads or YouTube, PostPen marks it there.
No AI writing in the Composer
The Composer is for writing by hand. When you want a post written, ask your agent: it saves drafts to the same calendar through PostPen's agent tools, and you can open any of them in the Composer to edit.
