How to schedule LinkedIn business page posts
By PostPen Team ·
To schedule a post on a LinkedIn business (company) page, open the Page's admin view as a Super admin or Content admin. Start a post, click the clock icon, and pick a time between one hour and three months ahead. To schedule from an AI agent instead, connect LinkedIn to PostPen, add https://mcp.postpen.ai to your agent, and ask it to schedule the post to your company page; PostPen publishes it at that time.
Start free. Note that posting to company pages needs the Organization plan.
This guide covers both methods, what each one can and can't do, and how to handle more than one page. The native rules below come from LinkedIn Help, checked on October 9, 2026.
Who can schedule LinkedIn posts on a business page
Only two Page roles can schedule posts natively. According to LinkedIn Help, Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages, a Super admin or a Content admin of a Page can schedule a post or newsletter article.
Admins can also view, edit, reschedule and delete posts scheduled by other Page admins. If an admin is removed, their scheduled posts move to the admin who removed them.
If you don't see the scheduling option, check your Page role first.
Method 1: schedule natively on LinkedIn
Step by step
These steps are from LinkedIn Help, Schedule a LinkedIn Page post (desktop):
- Go to your Page's super admin or content admin view.
- Click Page posts in the left menu.
- Click Start a post. A preview of your post opens.
- Click the clock icon in the lower right. The Schedule post dialog opens.
- Select a date and time from the dropdown menus. The time is based on your location, and you can type an exact time instead of using the 30-minute options.
- Click Next to save and return to the preview.
- Finish writing your post.
- Click Schedule.
The window is anywhere from one hour from now to three months ahead. LinkedIn publishes the post at the set date and time automatically.
On mobile, the flow is similar. Tap Dashboard, select Page posts, tap Post, then tap the clock icon in the upper right.
Edit, reschedule or delete a scheduled page post
After you schedule a post, LinkedIn gives you four options:
- Post now publishes it immediately.
- Edit post changes the content.
- Modify schedule changes the date and time.
- Delete post removes it.
What you can't schedule natively
LinkedIn Help lists these exclusions. You can't schedule:
- Events
- Multiple photos
- Reshares
- Polls
- Jobs
- Service posts
You also can't promote a scheduled post with the Browse existing content option in Campaign Manager until it is published.
Method 2: schedule company page posts from your AI agent (PostPen)
PostPen is LinkedIn scheduling and publishing for AI agents. Your agent writes the post. PostPen holds your LinkedIn connection, queues the post and publishes it to your company page at the time you set.
This method fits teams who already use Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Cursor or another MCP client. On ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan; the LinkedIn MCP setup guide has the details. You ask in chat, and the post lands on a calendar you can review.
Connect LinkedIn once
Sign in to PostPen and connect LinkedIn. Company pages you admin come from the same login, so you don't need a second account.
Company pages are included on the Organization and Enterprise plans. On Free and Personal, posts go to your personal profile only, per PostPen support.
Add PostPen to your agent
Add https://mcp.postpen.ai as an MCP server in your agent. The agent opens a browser, you sign in to PostPen, and you click Allow.
For per-agent steps, including Claude Code and Cursor commands, see the setup guide linked above. Bots without MCP can use a bearer API key from https://app.postpen.ai/agents instead.
Ask your agent to schedule it
Write a prompt like this:
Schedule this changelog post to our company page for Tuesday at 9am New York time.
Your agent then calls three tools:
list_destinationsreturns where you may post. Each destination has anid, atype(personalororganization) and aname. The agent picks your company page'sid.save_draftsaves the text, up to 3,000 characters, withdestinationset to that page id. It can also add afirst_comment(up to 1,250 characters, posted right after the post goes live) andmentions(up to 10 company page links to tag).schedule_postqueues the draft for the date and time you asked for, with your timezone included. You can pick any future date and time.
PostPen publishes the post when it's due, even if the chat is closed. Your agent never sees your LinkedIn token. No tool accepts or returns one.
To tag another company, the agent passes its LinkedIn page link in mentions and writes the company's name in the text exactly as LinkedIn spells it. People can't be tagged, and tags aren't applied to PDF posts.
Review on the calendar before it goes out
Open the calendar at app.postpen.ai. Drafts, scheduled posts and published posts appear on one month view, whichever agent made them.
You can edit, move to another day, send back to drafts or delete anything before it goes out. If a post fails, the calendar shows the reason.
Change or cancel a scheduled post from your agent
Plans change. You can fix a queued post from the calendar, or ask your agent to do it in chat:
list_postswith statusscheduledshows what's already in the queue, with each post's media, first comment and company tags.save_draftwith the post'sidupdates a scheduled post in place, for example to fix a typo or change the image. The schedule time and page stay as they are.unschedule_postmoves a scheduled post back to drafts. It needsconfirm: true, and nothing is deleted or sent.- To move it to a new time, call
schedule_poston that draft with the new date and time. To move it to another page, passdestinationonschedule_posttoo.
Scheduled and published posts can't be deleted with delete_draft; that tool only removes drafts that were never sent.
Publishing immediately is gated. publish_now is refused unless the call includes confirm: true, so everything else lands on the calendar first.
Scheduling for more than one company page
With PostPen, you choose the destination per post. One LinkedIn login covers your profile and the company pages you admin.
| Plan | Price | Where you can publish |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 personal profile, 10 published posts per month |
| Personal | $9/month | Personal profile |
| Organization | $29/month | Personal profile + 2 company pages |
| Enterprise | Custom | 3+ company pages |
For yearly billing and other options, see plans. Natively, LinkedIn's scheduling is per Page: you schedule from each Page's admin view.
Native vs agent scheduling at a glance
| Native LinkedIn scheduling | PostPen (agent scheduling) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can do it | Page Super admins and Content admins | You, through your agent, for pages you admin on the connected LinkedIn login |
| How far ahead | 1 hour to 3 months | Any future date and time you give your agent |
| Where you review it | Page admin view | PostPen calendar at app.postpen.ai |
| How many pages | Each Page you admin, from that Page's admin view | Organization: 2 company pages; Enterprise: 3+ |
| Stats and comments afterwards | In LinkedIn | Agent reads get_post_stats, list_comments and get_insights |
After it publishes: stats and comments
Once the post is live, your agent can read how it did:
get_post_statsreturns impressions, reach, reactions, comments, reposts and engagement rate for one post. Company page posts also include clicks.list_commentsreads the comments on a company page post, so your agent can summarize what people said. LinkedIn does not allow this for personal posts.get_insightscompares each account's last N days against the period before, and flags recent posts that beat what's usual.
Treat these numbers as observations, not causes. With a few posts, the sample is small.
If a stats tool returns needs_reconnect: true, reconnect LinkedIn in PostPen.
