The LinkedIn post scheduler for AI agents
By PostPen Team ·
PostPen is a LinkedIn scheduler your AI agent can use. Ask Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot or any MCP client to schedule a post, and PostPen queues it on your calendar and publishes it to your profile or company page (company pages need the Organization plan) at the time you set. Your agent writes the post; PostPen schedules and publishes it.

Free plan: 10 published posts a month on one personal profile. No credits.
How it works in 3 steps
- Connect LinkedIn once in PostPen. Company pages you admin come from the same login.
- Add
https://mcp.postpen.aito your agent. A browser opens; sign in to PostPen and click Allow. Bots without MCP use an API key fromapp.postpen.ai/agents. - Ask your agent to schedule the post. It saves a draft and schedules it. PostPen publishes it on time, even if the chat is closed.
Try a prompt like this:
Schedule this changelog post to our company page for Tuesday at 9am New York time.
Works with the agents you already use
PostPen works with anything that can add a remote MCP server:
- Grok Bot
- Claude and Claude Code
- ChatGPT
- Muse by Meta
- Cursor and VS Code
- Codex and Gemini CLI
Bots that only send HTTP requests can call the same eleven tools with a bearer key. The spec is at postpen.ai/openapi.json.
Setup steps for each agent are in our MCP guide. On ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan.
A LinkedIn post planner you can review
Your agents fill the calendar. You decide what ships.
The month calendar at app.postpen.ai shows drafts, scheduled posts and published posts in one view, whichever agent made them. Nothing about the queue is hidden in a chat log.
- Change anything before it goes out. Edit, move to another day, send back to drafts, or delete.
- See what went wrong. A failed post shows the reason.
- Post by hand when you want. You can also write and schedule posts yourself in the app. You and your agents share the same queue.
What your agent can schedule
This LinkedIn scheduler tool covers the post types most teams use:
- Text up to 3,000 characters.
- Media: up to 9 images (5MB each), one mp4 video (75KB to 200MB), or one PDF up to 100MB, shown as a carousel. Don't mix types in one post.
- A first comment of up to 1,250 characters, posted right after the post goes live.
- Company page tags, using each page's LinkedIn link.
- Your destination, picked per post: your personal profile or a company page.
For a full walkthrough, see how to schedule LinkedIn business page posts.
Built so an agent can't post by surprise
- The token stays on PostPen. Your LinkedIn connection stays on PostPen's server. No tool accepts or returns a LinkedIn token.
- Publishing now needs a confirm.
publish_nowis refused unless the call includesconfirm: true. - Everything lands on the calendar first. Drafts and scheduled posts show on one calendar before anything goes out, and deleting a draft or unscheduling a post needs
confirm: true.
You can cut off access at any time. Remove PostPen from your agent, revoke the API key, or disconnect LinkedIn.
After it's live: stats and comments
Your agent can read how each post did, then plan the next ones around it.
get_post_statsreturns impressions, reach, reactions, comments, reposts and engagement rate for a published post.get_insightsshows whether each account is growing against the previous period, and which recent posts beat the usual.list_commentsreads comments on company page posts. LinkedIn doesn't allow apps to read comments on personal posts.
PostPen vs LinkedIn's built-in scheduler
LinkedIn's own scheduler is free and works well for one-off posts. PostPen is for scheduling from your agent and reviewing everything on one calendar.
| LinkedIn's built-in scheduler | PostPen | |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes | You | Your agent (or you, by hand) |
| How far ahead | Personal posts: 10 minutes to 3 months. Page posts: 1 hour to 3 months. | Any future date and time |
| Where you schedule | LinkedIn composer, one post at a time | From chat, or the PostPen calendar |
| Company pages | From each Page's admin view | Per post, from one login (Organization plan) |
| Stats afterwards | In LinkedIn | Your agent reads them |

FAQ
What is a LinkedIn scheduler?
A tool that queues LinkedIn posts and publishes them at a set time. PostPen does this for posts your AI agent writes.
Can't I just use LinkedIn's built-in scheduler?
Yes, for one-off posts. LinkedIn schedules personal posts 10 minutes to 3 months ahead and page posts 1 hour to 3 months ahead, per LinkedIn Help. PostPen is for scheduling from your agent, choosing the profile or page per post, and reviewing everything on one calendar.
Is there a free LinkedIn scheduler plan?
Yes. PostPen Free covers 10 published LinkedIn posts per calendar month on 1 personal profile. Drafts and scheduled posts don't count until they publish, and unused posts don't roll over.
Does PostPen write my LinkedIn posts?
No. Your agent writes the post, and PostPen schedules and publishes it. You can also write posts by hand in the app.
Can I schedule posts to a LinkedIn company page?
Yes, on Organization ($29/month): your profile plus 2 company pages from the same LinkedIn login. Enterprise covers more.
Can my agent publish without asking me?
No. publish_now only runs with an explicit confirm. Scheduled posts show on your calendar first, where you can edit, move or delete them.
